The EMC Centera SDK for XAM (eXtensible Access Method) is EMC’s implementation of the XAM specification and VIM (Vendor Interface Module) for integrating ISV and custom applications to Centera. XAM defines a standard access method between applications, management software, and storage systems to manage fixed content. And, it allows XAM-enabled applications to interface with XAM-compliant devices.

EMC has taken a leadership role to make XAM an industry standard,enabling software vendors and storage vendors to cooperate on setting this new access method standard for interoperability, information assurance, storage transparency, long-term record retention, and automation for ILM practices.
